A Peaceful Morning Senior Portrait Session at Oval Beach along the Lake Michigan Shoreline.


This senior portrait session took place early in the morning at Oval Beach in Saugatuck, Michigan, when the shoreline is quiet and the light over Lake Michigan is soft and beautiful. I usually photograph senior sessions at sunset, but this time we met just after sunrise, and the calm beach and gentle morning light created a completely different feel.


The dunes, open sky, and wide shoreline at Oval Beach make it one of my favorite places for senior portraits in Saugatuck. The early morning gave us space to move around the beach and capture relaxed, natural images that reflect the excitement and confidence of senior year. Sessions like this are a reminder that sometimes stepping outside the usual sunset timing can create something just as beautiful along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
